Walking and Cycling Trails

Brimbank’s generous offering of walking and cycling trails are well-designed to suit everyone from families to avid cyclists and keen walkers.

They are a great way to enjoy Brimbank’s outstanding waterways and provide easy access to key destinations throughout the area.

Key trails to check out are:

  • Maribyrnong River Recreational Trail – About 23km from Footscray Road, Footscray to Brimbank Park, Keilor
  • Taylors Creek Recreational Trail – 8.5km from Rowlandson Place, Taylors Lakes to Burrowye Crescent, Keilor
  • Kororoit Creek Trail – 15km from Isabella Williams Memorial Reserve, Deer Park to Federation Trail, Brooklyn
  • Jones Creek Trail – 2km from Edgewater Circuit, Cairnlea to Jonesfield Corner, Cairnlea

You can also discover new things about the local flora by visiting the Taylors Creek and Kororoit Creek wildflower gardens which showcase plants indigenous to the local area.

Brimbank Park (Keilor Park Drive, Keilor East) is a particularly great place to walk, run and cycle. A network of tracks cross the park including the main trail, which meanders alongside the Maribyrnong River forming a circuit of 4.3 kilometres. If you’re feeling adventurous, the Maribyrnong River Trail starts at the park and follows the tree lined Maribyrnong River for about 23 kilometres to Footscray. The park also has sheltered picnic areas, gas barbecues, picnic tables, playgrounds, and the Lumbar & Co café.
