Sunshine was built on industry and is now a centre for retail and education with a strong and passionate community.

Start the day with breakfast at The Granary Café in Devonshire Road before checking out some of the public art around the area.

Discover rich history at the site of Sunshine’s first post office, the replica McKay Smithy, the site of the Sunshine Harvester Works and Sunshine’s first library to name just a few. Then head across the railway bridge for a stroll around the 100 year old H.V. McKay Memorial Gardens (Anderson Rd, Sunshine).

If you’re entertaining kids, spend the morning at the Sunshine Roller Skating Centre (38 McIntyre Rd, Sunshine), Buckingham Reserve (Buckingham Cres, Sunshine West), or the Ardeer Community Park (Forrest St, Ardeer).

For lunch, try a famous Banh Mi at one of Melbourne’s best Vietnamese cafés in the Sunshine Town Centre in Hampshire Road, or choose from a variety of sandwich bars and trendy cafés.

In the afternoon, there are 12kms of pathways to explore along the Kororoit Creek or settle in at Village Cinemas (80 Harvester Rd, Sunshine) for the latest flick.
